Sex and drugs get safer
The good news: According to the CDC , Americans took fewer risks when it came to HIV between 2006-2010 than they did in 2002. The less good news: Among 20-24 year olds, 12% of women and 15% of men reported an HIV risk behavior in the last year, meaning that both women and men in that age range were more likely to take a risk than any other age group between 15 and 44.
Wonder what qualifies as an HIV risk behavior? Voilà :
- A man having sex with a man;
- Having five or more opposite-sex sex partners in the last year;
- Having sex in exchange for money or drugs;
- A woman having male partners who have sex with other men;
- Having a sex partner who injects illicit drugs; or
- Having an HIV-positive sex partner.
